Areas of Practice and Interest

Resilience

The majority of my career has focused on supporting and assisting children with disabilities, as well as law enforcement personnel who are exposed to trauma, threats, and critical incidents on a day-to-day basis. Two populations on opposite ends of the spectrum; the highly vulnerable, and the protectors of the vulnerable. The common thread between them? Resilience.

We live in a world that is filled with beauty, wonder, and hope; but it can also be fraught with threats, obstacles, and adversity. As such, it is critical that we develop the fortitude to withstand the physical, psychological, and social challenges that we experience in our day to day lives.

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in getting up every time we do.”

- Confucius

Performance

As an avid and competitive tennis player since the age of 10, I’ve always been interested in maximising my performance and seeking out efficiencies. Whether it was on the tennis court, playing music or video games, or mentoring others.

I have utilised my knowledge and skills to boost clients’ performance in a range of areas, including: Building motivation, augmenting training regimes, increasing efficiency, developing an armoured mindset, adapting and rebounding from challenges such as setbacks or failures, and establishing routines and consistency.

“The fears we don’t face, become our limits.”

- Robin Sharma

Growth

No matter who you are, what you do, or what point in life you’re at, we always have space to learn, develop, and grow. I’ve learnt plenty on my journey as a Psychologist, but also as a son, brother, husband, tennis player, and fellow inhabitant of this big wide world of ours. Join me on this journey of discovering new insights, self-development, sharing strategies that I have taught to many of my clients, and achieving growth.

“Change is inevitable, but personal growth is a choice.”

- Bob Proctor

Overcoming Challenges

Life is full of adversity and challenges; it’s one of those unavoidable aspects of the world we live in! However, this doesn’t have to be a negative thing. We’re physically and psychologically durable – it’s just that sometimes we need a helping hand to get us over the line. Just like a PT may help someone to work towards achieving peak physical fitness, my role often involves supporting and guiding others to conquer their challenges or barriers, whether physical or psychological, internal or external in cause.

“Adversity does not build character, it reveals it.”

- James Lane Allen

Strengths Based Focus

Everyone has strengths, it’s just that we sometimes lose sight of them, forget about them, or fail to recognise them. Working in the field of disability has taught me that everyone has strengths - and it does not have to be in the manner of a bodybuilder! However, the real question is whether or not the person recognises their skills or talents, and whether they are able to effectively draw upon these strengths to conquer challenges.

I love supporting clients to discover (or re-discover!) their strengths, and to guide them in using these same abilities to overcome barriers and live the most fulfilling life they can achieve.
